OTPF Quote:

All people need to be able or enabled to engage in the occupations of their need and choice, to grow through what they do, and to experience independence or interdependence, equality, participation, security, health, and well-being. (Wilcock & Townsend, 2008, p. 198)

Needs Assessment

We are in the process of distributing surveys to the graduate student population here at Chatham Eastside. Our goal is to obtain valuable information in regards to how students spend their time in a week, and essentially if their time is well-balanced. The parameters included in the survey are:
  • Rest & Sleep
  •  Education
  • Work
  • Play
  •  Leisure
  • Socializing
  • Daily self-care activities
Next, students were asked to pick their top five interests based on activities that are currently available at Eden Hall:
________  Swimming
________  Hiking/Nature Walks
________  Gardening
________  Volleyball
________  Croquet
________  Bowling
________  Archery
________  Bicycling
________  Bird Watching
________  Photography

Finally, we included a short series of questions to get a better understanding of our target population:

Yes        No

Do you live in Chatham housing?
Yes        No
If not, from where do you commute? ______________________________________

If transportation were provided, would you be interested in traveling
to Eden Hall to use the facilities there?
Yes        No

Do you know that you can obtain access to Eden Hall and all of its
amenities via your Chatham ID card?
Yes        No

Knowing you can gain access to Eden Hall, would you utilize the
space for recreational or relaxation purposes?
Yes        No

Do you have enough recreation in your life that it
contributes to your health?
Yes        No

Our hope is to have all of the surveys completed and returned to us by next week. We will then be able to analyze the data and better assess the needs, wants, and expectations of our graduate student population. Below is an exact copy of the survey given to Chatham graduate students.
